Autumn Cool Breezes Bring a Screeching Halt to Heat & Smoke in Montana

A welcome cool has come to Montana as crisp Autumn breezes have waffled in from our neighbors to the North. The Autumn in Montana is spectacular. It is my favorite season. September and October are great months to visit the state of Montana. There is a Harvest Festival in Townsend, Montana in October. There is Farmer's Market on Saturday in Woman's Park for a few more weeks and Alive At Five events on Wednesdays will continue for awhile.

The Blue skies are back in the Helena area and throughout the state as the smoke from wildfires has nearly dissipated. This was a hotter than hot smoky summer in Montana. The state legislature was called into the Capitol city this week by the Governor. The purpose was to authorize millions of dollars be transferred to the general fund for the costs of wildfires this year and next year. The costs to fight the wildfires around the state has been costly. No sooner did the legislature authorize he funds and leave town the vibrant blue skies of Montana returned.

There are some great exhibits at the Montana Historical Society in the Capitol Complex. It is worth your time to visit the state's history. The vintage appearing tour train will be running for a while. The Great Northern Cable Car is also running and can take you around the historic downtown area and the new Great Northern Center.

This time of the year is a great time to visit the various lakes, country and state parks around the Helena area. The leaves are beginning to turn slightly and by the time you get here the leaves should be spectacular. The days are comfortable in the 60 and 70 degree range. The evenings and nights are refreshingly cool. It is an ideal time to visit the Helena area.
