If you have any contacts in the Hocking Hills area, I would recommend you get with them and inquire about camping on their property. This private atmosphere will allow you to view animals in their natural setting. You will see a lot of rabbits, squirrels, deer, and many birds. You might also see skunks, raccoons, and owls. The Hocking Hills is also home to many box and water turtles.
You will not find a more scenic and lovely spot in the State of Ohio. The Hocking Hills is a great place to bring your dog. Recently recognized as being one of the most dog friendly places in the United States. Your dog will enjoy a peaceful retreat in the Hocking Hills region. You can hike, fish and swim with your dog. Many area accommodations, over seventy, welcome your four-legged friend.
When camping you will need basic equipment and supplies. A tent is a great way to start. Sleeping Bags, raincoats and bug repellent are also must have items. Anything you might not think to bring will be available at Wal-Mart in Logan, Ohio. I would also recommend that instead of buying firewood when you arrive in the Hocking Hills. Many places sell bundles of firewood. You get between five and seven small pieces of wood for an unreal amount. Normally priced between four and six dollars a bundle. Wood is easily accessible. If you have a large enough vehicle to accommodate on extra box, you could pick up tree limbs and pieces you can easily find in most any setting, such as road sides, yards and so on. You will save a lot of money by taking twenty minutes before your trip to get prepared.
