In addition to the many fall festivals and outdoor festivals, there are many other locations that families can visit to enjoy the moderate temperatures of fall, and the colorful landscape which changes daily this time of year.

Adams National Historic Garden

Explore the formal gardens on the grounds of Adams National Historical Park, birthplace of two American presidents. The 2nd U.S. President John Adams and the 6th U.S. President John Quincy Adams were both born here.

Seasonal Hours: The Adams National Historical Park is open daily from 9am to 5pm through November 1, 2007.
Admission: : This is an inexpensive and educational outing for families. Adults pay $5 each, and all children under 16 are free.

Arnold Arboretum Garden

Another great place to visit in the fall months in Massachusetts is the Arnold Arboretum Garden.

Boston Public Garden

The Boston Public Garden, in Boston, Massachusetts, is not to be confused with the sports event venue the Boston Garden. The Boston Public Garden is a four-acre garden complete with walking paths and swan boats. The Boston Public Garden has the distinction of being the nation's very first public botanical garden.

Codman Estate

The gardens at the historic Codman estate include a hidden Italian garden, a Lilly pool, and English cottage garden, statuary, and perennial beds. Notably, Edith Wharton helped design the Italian garden.
