Ahh fall, one of my favorite seasons of the year. The leaves are turning beautiful shades of red and yellow, the air is crisp, and the excitement of upcoming holidays is in the air. But perhaps my favorite thing about fall is the start of a new school year. This is a particularly exciting time of year if you are a homeschool mom like myself. I love the smell of new schoolbooks, notebooks, crayons, and pencils. Even as an adult I love to color. As a homeschool mom and teacher, coloring is a big part of my day. There's just something about opening a box of crayons on that first day of school and seeing all the bright colors that make me excited about all the beautiful pictures that will be hanging on my refrigerator soon. But before you go out and buy more boxes of Crayola crayons, consider a new product from Crayola that I have recently seen on the market. They are called Erasable Colored Pencils. When I first saw them, I thought that they were pretty cool. The familiar green and yellow packaging told me that they would live up to Crayola quality. Each pencil had it's own eraser and they were the same size as a regular pencil.
So imagine my surprise when I found a box of 20 Crayola Erasable Colored Pencils with an extra eraser and sharpener on sale at Michael's. The front said "they erase just in case". I thought "How cool is that." So I bought them and brought them home.
When I opened up the package and dumped the 20 Crayola Erasable Colored Pencils out I noticed that the erasers were the same color as the pencil. I picked up the pink one and started to color. The color was smooth and pretty and the pencil fit nicely in my hand. But what about those erasers? Did they work? I colored out of the lines just to see if they erased. They erased beautifully, almost as it I didn't even make a mistake. I colored for a while and discovered that my Crayola Erasable Colored Pencils were starting to get dull, so I took out the sharpener that came with them and sharpened them to a nice new point. The shavings were clean and easy to toss in the trash can.
