While men and women use cell phones frequently, very few take the necessary precautions to prevent damage. That is why consumer must pay more attention to the safety of their cell phones. One mistake may end up costing you more money. If you own an expensive cell phone like the Apple iPhone or T-Mobile Sidekick, these are very important tips to follow. Here are five easy ways that you can protect cell phones from damage.

Keep out of the rain
I have seen many people talking on the phone in the rain. While this may not seem like a big deal, the practice may cause damage to your cell phone. It is best to treat cell phones the same way that your electronics are handled. Men and women will not usually sit their stereo or television on the sidewalk during a rain shower. That is because doing so will cause damage to these electronics. If you leave your cell phone on the front porch or use it outdoors in the rain, future problems can occur.

In time, you may end up having trouble with the numbers or cell phone speaker. Imagine dialing one number and getting different results. The number four becomes number five and so on. This can be very frustrating. If you must talk on the phone during the rain, try to move indoors. Another option would be to use an umbrella and cover the phone up with your hand. Otherwise, there is room for potential damage.

Do not keep cell phones in your pocket
This is a common practice among males and females. Cell phones are stored in the pants or jeans pocket. That can be due to many reasons such as not having access to a purse or carry bag. However, storing cell phones in your pocket will put it at risk for damage. You may forget that it is on your pocket and sit on the cell phone accidentally. Your cell phone case or screen will get damaged as a result.

Good tips. I could write an article on how to destroy a cell phone. I destroyed 5 in two years. The phone insurer dropped me! I've never heard of such.
