Existentialism is a philosophical theory that hit its pinnacle during the late 1700's and early 1800's. Existentialist do not believe in concentrating on universal connections to humans, but rather on human existence alone. Unlike Atheists whose philosophical belief system is quite similar to existentialism. Atheism is a philosophical theory that like existentialists focuses on human existence alone. However, Atheist theory is based on their belief of the absence of God. The fine line that separates the two theories is the difference between the Atheist's no belief in a God or supreme being whatsoever, and the Existentialist's belief of no divine interference in human existence. Both philosophical theories focus on human existence, a individuals free will, choice, freedom and responsibility without any type of interference.

The Existentialist philosophy focuses on each human individual's existence. Their belief is that on earth there is only human existence and no divine interference that impacts human life. Their philosophy goes on to elaborate on how very choice a individual makes they are completely responsible for and no other. Each individual has to make decisions in which they must decide what is right and wrong, what is true and false and what beliefs they want to choose.

The individual is continuously making these decisions on every step of the way and yet the have no way of knowing ultimately if their decision was right or wrong. Just as Ivan Soll mentions in his article of how human life is series of decisions in which there is no standard rules or guideline to understand what one should think is right or how to make the right decision or any type of burden of laws, traditions or ethical rules ," The individual must continually decide what is true and what I false; what is right and what is wrong; which beliefs o accept and which to reject; what to do and what not to do.
