Aftermath

Let me first start out with the fact that my father served many years in the service, the only man I ever loved was in the service, and the man I married was in the service. The opinions I am about to express are in no way related to the men and women who serve or have served our country. If I go to an anti-war rally tomorrow it's not because I don't support our men and women, it's because I don't want war.
War affects everyone. It is painful, heart wrenching, and leaves utter devastation in its path. Men, woman, and children are subject to things that most of us could never understand.
I am sure that I will have people mad at me after this post. To be honest, I'm already afraid to post it.
I see war much different than I did seventeen years ago. At this time in my life I almost always see war as a means for the rich people to get richer. American soldiers don't go over and come back with a lot of cash in their pocket, the ones that supply the military, or reconstructive everything, do.
I know our soldiers go over because they want to serve their country and I respect that. I really do. What I don't admire is our government.
I mean, look at Vietnam. The whole thing was totally f'd up. Hell, it's still f'd up. Our government sent them over and to this day, they refuse to take care of the ones that made it back.
Last I checked. war hurt both sides and the fighting rarely takes place on American land. Wait... the civil war. Didn't that end slavery? Anyway, I'll give you a moment to think about 911. Now, magnify that, a shitload.
You have Americans losing parents, spouses, and lovers. You have the "enemy" losing the same, plus civilian women and children.
In my mind wars are almost always conceived, cultivated, and grown from a fog of propaganda.
Please someone, learn me. Explain this to me. Change my mind because right now I'm just not feeling it.
