CHESTER - Martin L. Heft, the former First Selectman of this small town for 12 years who currently serves as the minority selectman on the Board of Selectmen, will work in a new role to help unseat both incumbent Republican selectmen. Heft will be the campaign coordinator for the Democratic Town Committee and will help the party launch a full-fledged grassroots campaign.
The campaign will include volunteers who will be assisting with phone calls, door knocking, fund-raising, meet and greet socials, and other campaign activities.
Its focus will be to unseat First Selectman Republican Tom Marsh who won the election in a close race in November 2005.
Marsh ran with running mate Republican Bruce Watrous.
Heft will be assisting Justin Good who is the Democratic candidate for First Selectman.
Good said, "There's a lot of excitement brewing in town, the party has rebuilt itself and is picking up speed. Martin is a tremendous resource for us to have guiding the campaign process and keeping things steady."
Heft assisted with the 2nd Congressional District for Governor Candidate Dan Malloy and served as State Comptroller Nancy Wyman's 2006 Campaign Manager.
"Knowing my good friends are willing to give their time and energy to help the Good-Heft team get elected reinforces my belief that the Democrats will once again be the voice for the residents of Chester," said Heft.
