The NWA at this moment is just a name with multiple promotions around the world with control over the main top titles like the World and Tag Team Titles to name a few. It used to be a big deal but it faded out once WCW decided to become its own entity. From that point forward, it was simply just a name tacked on by various independent promotions to give themselves some serious credibility. It is going to be very hard to actually explain what or how they are going to do a drug policy. Each of the small promotions may have some policy but really unknown as to how it is being taken care of exactly. Looking at the activity, the only thing going on is there is a tournament to crown a new NWA World Heavyweight Champion and that's about it. It's more or less just a paper promotion with no real organization as to the head of all of those independent promotions. In conclusion, it will be rather interesting to find out exactly how they will testify in Congress over the drug policy if there is one.
TNA was once a member of the NWA until 2004 but had the rights for the NWA World and Tag Team Titles until May of 2007. The drug policy is quite unknown due to it not being made public. According to Matt Bentley, whom recently departed from the company, stated that he had never been tested. With that type of testimony, it would really get Congress on TNA like there's no tomorrow. Could that mean the end of the company? Perhaps it could and perhaps they will be given a deadline as to get a policy started. At this present time, Panda Energy currently backs them so maybe it's a corporate policy that isn't quite known and effects the wrestlers. Maybe it does but it's not really one of those items that known.
