Buying a fifth wedding anniversary gift can be overwhelming. Considered a “big one” because of being half-way to a decade together, you may be nervous about picking an appropriate fifth anniversary gift. Wood is the traditional material given for the fifth year of marriage. Here are some modern gift suggestions inspired from the conventional idea.

1. A Beautiful Double Picture Frame: Place their wedding picture in one slot and they can place a picture taken on their fifth anniversary in the other. Have their names and dates of both their wedding day and fifth anniversary year carved into the frame to make it even more special.

2. A Wooden Clock: Kind of along the same lines as the picture frame with their wedding date carved on it. Have a copy of their wedding picture decoupage onto the wood and you have an instant timeless keepsake for a gift.

3. A Wooden Time Capsule Box: Engrave the couples name and anniversary date with a special message that they must place small mementoes inside, lock it and not open it again until their tenth anniversary, They can even include letters to one another about their hopes and dreams of where they’re going to be then that can be read to one-another on the day of opening. This is a fun way to cap off a fifth anniversary

4. A Tree: If the couple has there first home already, you can purchase a small sapling that they can plant together. If you give this with the time capsule box, they can even wrap up the box well, to prevent moisture damage, and bury the box near the tree. If they do not have a place of their own, there are plenty of organizations that will plant a tree in their name. Include a small note about how their marriage will flourish and continue to grow.

5. Wooden Name Sign: Whether the couple has bought their first home or not, this is always a much appreciated gift. Just engrave the couples name on the top with the year of their marriage. If they have any children, place them underneath the couple with their years of birth and leave room if they don’t. Even if the couple ends up not having children, they can go back to the sign and add whatever they wish to.
