How to Host an Affordable Fourth of July Party

July Fourth is a time to celebrate our nation's birth. Wouldn't it also be a great time to host a party? Most people are all ready off from work and in the party mood. It really wouldn't be that hard. It would just take a bit of planning.

First, you should start your party with the invitations. Fourth of July of course is your theme. It should be easy to make some invitations up on your computer or have some made at your local print shop. If you have kids, you can save money and get them involved by having them create your invitations. Get some nice paper, some colorful envelopes, lots of crayons and markers for them. You should oversee the addressing and the party time is correct.

Food is pretty easy to plan. What do people want for the Fourth of July; hamburgers, hotdogs, potato-salad, chips, dips, and ice-cream. Get that grill out of storage. If the man of the house loves to play grill master, put him in charge of that grill. This will help the hostess out a lot. Be sure to include variety in the way of drinks. Are you serving alcohol? You may want to rethink that idea if some of the guests are bringing children. Lemonade and tea are usually big crowd pleasers in hot weather. Main thing about drinks is the ice. Make sure you have plenty in stock. You should also add sturdy paper plates, plastic cups, and lots of paper napkins to your pre-party-shopping lists.

Decorations are fun to buy for a Fourth of July party. If your local town has dollar stores or outlet stores, you should check those stores out first. Usually by the end of May, you can start finding July Fourth party favors in most stores. Of course, the flag and the colors red, white and blue are your theme. You can get everything from Uncle Sam hats, to crepe paper, flags of all sizes, tablecloths in our flag colors, wind-chimes, you name it and you can possibly find it.

If your party is going to be held in the evening, you have a lot of choices in outside lighting. You can string lights around your porches, put out solar lights in your yard and even string lights around a tent. You can buy outside lights in color sets or clear. You can even find some red, white and blue sets.
