Toothbrush Bracelet

Fast and Easy Craft Project for Kids

Toothbrush bracelets are a fast and easy craft project for birthday parties, rainy days, or even just for fun. They are cute and so simple you don't need to be crafty to make them.

To make a toothbrush bracelet you will need a toothbrush. I like clear, hard Oral B's, but almost anything will work. Some toothbrushes are hander to bend than others and usually the cheaper the brush the better luck you and less of a hassle you will have with it. I prefer flat handled
brushes but round ones should work the same way, unless they have squishy grips on them. Little kid's toothbrushes with designs on the handle make fun looking bracelets and are usually easier to bend than adult brushes. Plus if your wrist is on the small side you probably want to use a child's size toothbrush.

Along with your toothbrush you are also going to need tweezers to pull all the bristles out of the brush's head, a pot of boiling water, and gloves or some kind of cloth to prevent you from burning your hands touching the hot toothbrush.

The first thing you need to do is remove all the bristles from the brush. They should be relatively easy to pull out with tweezers, but if you are having a hard time it sometimes helps to boil the head of the brush. Once the plastic is heated it should become looser and the bristles should come out easily.

Once you have removed all the bristles, place the toothbrush into the boiling water until it is flexible and easy to bend. Depending on the type of brush this could take anywhere from five to ten minutes.

Remove the brush from the water and slowly and gently bend it into a round bracelet form. Take your time bending it and don't try and force it to bend too far or too quickly. It's very easy to snap the brush in half by accident. Making sure you will be able to fit the bracelet onto your wrist. Sometimes it's easier to just bend the brush around your wrist to get the perfect shape. If you do this be careful to cover your wrist first so the hot brush doesn't burn it. If you used a toothbrush with a design on the handle make sure the design it facing out.

I've seen this project before, but wondered if real people actually did it. Thanks for trying it out and letting us in on the details.
