Osama Bin Laden Dyes His Beard - Why?

Osama Bin Laden dyes his beard. Why? Ok, ok, I know. Do we even really care that a mass murderer decided to dye his beard from mostly grey to a dark color that covers the grey? No. But you have to admit, that at the very least, it is a mild curiosity. So, is bin Laden trying to look younger? Obviously, yes. Isn't' that what most everybody who dyes their grey to another color trying to do, too? Does this make Osama bin Laden a bit narcissistic just like the rest of us "morally bankrupt westerners?"

According to Osama bin Laden's belief system, women have to cover their heads with scarves, thus mostly , if not completely, obstructing any view of their hair. Yet here he is, actually going in the polar opposite direction, and dying his hair (beard) so that he looks better, younger, more appealing, etc.

The only reasons I can think of, as to why men dye their beard, and there are very few reasons, is to feel better about themselves, attract women , cover up the realization that they are that much closer to death, etc. The realization that your going to die one day is a universal truth no matter what culture or faith you've grow up within. Is bin Laden coming to the realization the he too, will be dead soon?

President Bush's Homeland Security Advisor Fran Townsend appeared on Fox news after Osama bin Laden released his video showing that he'd dyed his beard, and very deliberately twice remarked that Osama Bin Laden has been "virtually impotent." This is about the best he can do," Townsend said of bin Laden. "This is a man on a run, from a cave, who's virtually impotent other than these tapes."

And while this may be a stretch, I can't help but think how that statement by her could have been so carefully crafted by the powers that be so as to match the fact that bin Laden appeared in his video with a dyed beard- so as to make himself appear younger, or more 'potent,' if you will.

Perhaps bin Laden has taken to heart Keith Hernandez's commercial in which he says, "Oh no play for Mr. Grey."
