During the last decade, HBO has won great esteem for their original series. The Sopranos, without doubt, is one of the all time most popular television series. For some time, it was running during the same timeframe as Six Feet Under and Sex and the City. Others such as Deadwood had an audience on a lesser scale. And others, such as Carnival, though enjoyed by some, were sort of a flop.

Well, now that Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, and finally, The Sopranos are over, where does that leave HBO? Some of us have wondered if they can recover. To a degree, it hasn't looked so promising. Perhaps they were going to survive on their comedy series for awhile, like Curb Your Enthusiasm, now in a new season, and The Flight of the Conchords, which has just completed it's first and has been granted a second. (OK, I didn't omit Entourage by purpose. It is wildly popular, I know.)

But in the drama department? John From Cincinnati? Eh. Not a real spell-binder, not in this opinion, anyway. But now, oh yet, HBO has shown us they've got a comeback. "Tell Me You Love Me" is HBO's newest adult series, and one that you can sink your teeth into. It made its debut on Sunday, September 9th at 8 p.m. and did not receive very good reviews leading up to its premier. I was surprised!

"Tell me you love me" gives the viewer a look into the very intimate lives of three couples; one couple is married with two children, another couple is married and desperately trying for a baby, and the third is a couple engaged. The couple struggling with fertility is actively in therapy together, yet is obviously in denial about their feelings and not participating as they should be. The couple with children consider therapy, but the husband doesn't want to go as he fears they could never return to who they were prior to, and the third couple can barely talk to each other at all, no matter how hard she tries, but they certainly have no problems in the bedroom, and seemingly use that to solve their problems, or, at least a way to avoid them.

There is a lot in this show that I find intriguing--it's almost too real to watch at times. I just got married three years ago--I hope I never turn out like David & Katie :( Great review.
