There are lots of great places to trick or treat on Halloween in Dallas and Fort Worth. We much prefer to take our kids to these sponsored activities, than to go door-to-door around the neighborhood. It's safer for everyone, and the whole family gets to have a great time together. There are also lots of cool daytime activities if you don't like to go out at night. Here are some great ones, starting with my personal favorites.

Whole Foods

Whole Foods holds a Halloween celebration every year. We enjoy taking our kids to these festivities, since they have games for the kids, and healthier treats and candies. Also, Whole Foods' Halloween celebration focuses more on the fun, and less on the candy. There are many Whole Foods locations around Dallas and Fort Worth which participate in this Halloween event. Visit the Whole Foods website to use their store locator. The event is free. http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/

Goblins in the Gardens at The Dallas Arboretum

The Dallas Arboretum is decidedly one of my favorite spots for Halloween. Members get in to the Halloween festivities for free. There are lots of candy booths, crafts, face painting, carnival games, a petting zoo and a cool pumpkin patch. All events are held during the daytime, between noon and 4 pm. General Arboretum admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors 65 and over, $5 for children ages 3 - 12, and free for children 2 and under. Parking is $5. Parking is sometimes shifted offsite to a local grocery store during peak times. A shuttle bus transports visitors to and from the parking lot. (214) 515-6500. www.dallasarboretum.org.
