Most of us may be able to remember where we were or what we were doing the day the World Trade Center or Twin Towers fell on September 11, in 2001. I am sure we all have vivid memories of how we felt as we watched what many of us conceived as an unbelievable act of terrorism. I was shocked that we waited as long as we did to retaliate. I know my heart was so full of remorse and compassion for our country and those who lost loved ones that day.My heart cried out for the parents who had children in the daycare, or wives or husbands working in those towers. I remember thinking to myself "This has to be a joke." I thought it was an updated "War of the Worlds" broadcast. Who in their right minds would have thought anyone could do such a horrible thing.
It was not until later in the day when we heard of Osama bin Laden, that it some how made some kind of since. I remembered back when Oliver North was in the News. We took some of his words with a grain of salt back then. If we had only heeded his warning about BinLadin. I wonder if the twin towers would still be standing today. He warned us as a nation about what an evil man Osama bin Laden was.
When our President, George Bush decided to attack Iraq. My heart was with him. Even today at the horrendous loss of lives and other casualties that war brings. My heart is still with our President. My compassion goes to all the families that have lost soldiers in this war in Iraq. However I do not believe that one life has been taken in vain.
Just like World War I and World War II. Our soldiers fought to protect this country and it's people. How could anyone agree with what Hitler did to billions of people? Today how can anyone agree with what Terrorism and it's leaders are doing to people now? I remember the bodies that were found piled high in Iraq.
Where Saddam and his tyrants had killed people and just tossed them away like trash. I only wish the Iraqi people would remember those same things.
