If you thought that web hosting was just web hosting think again. There is much more to know about web hosting then you think. There are 4 different kinds of web hosting packages that you can choose from and if you don't know which one to choose you should start paying attention so that you don't run into problems down the road.

There is free website hosting which is what it says free. But free is never really free you have to pay somewhere if you want anything for free. So if you want a sub domain, limited bandwidth and disk space and lots and lots of advertising on your website that you don't get paid for then free website hosting is for you.

If you are going for a big business with lots of traffic then free website hosting is definitely not for you but if you are a college student with little money or can not afford to pay for a website then it is a great starter for you until you can afford something better.

You can buy a coalition server. This is where you buy a server and then a telecommunications place runs it for you. This is very expensive and is for the type of people who are planning on running a huge very profitable website.

There is also shared hosting which is what most people choose because it is the most affordable web hosting package today. Shared hosting is just that. You share hosting with lots and lots of other people. You see you get a certain amount of bandwidth and disk space and when you use that up you take it from others who haven't used that much therefore it is like sharing hosting. The only down fall to this is that you don't have full control over your server so your website can be affected periodically when others are exceeding there disk space and bandwidth limits.

The one I would recommended if you are serious about your business and if you can afford it is dedicated hosting. Dedicated hosting is when you are the only one using the whole system. This is for big websites as well, but there are many cool features to dedicated hosting.
