Meetup.com Has Something for Everyone

Moving to a new area, or simply meeting new people can be difficult. I recently came upon a really fantastic website that promotes getting out and meeting others. It is known as Meet Up. With a website address of www.meetup.com, it is very easy to remember. This website has so much going for it, this article will only touch the tip of the iceberg. Here goes....

MeetUp has a mission statement of 'Whatever your interest, Wherever you are'. The site connects people from all walks of life and is basically a search tool for meeting others with your same interests. You can accomplish this mission very easily, also. The www.meetup.com site is user-friendly and easy to navigate around in.

The first thing you can do, to save time, is to find a Meetup near you. You simply type in your city and up pops all the Meetup groups in your general area.
The site is also broken down by Topic, city, starting a group, and defining Meetup.

TOPIC: Upon entering the Meetup by Topic area, you can view all the topics available. The topics are categorized by popularity and number of groups available. Topics are also broken down by popularity and growing in popularity. Can't find what you want by category? Enter into the Cultures & Community area. Every kind of culture you can think of, and then some, will probably be listed in here.

CITY: As mentioned, Meetup.com is available via a city search. Simply type in your city, or one you are interested in, and a list of interest groups (Meetup groups) will show. Everything from artists, books, board games, video games, TV, to support groups will be found here. A great benefit to this portion of the Meetup.com website is the feature allowing you to search for groups within a certain mileage radius from you. You simply type in how many miles distance you are interested in. How easy is that?!

You can sign up for a free weekly calendar of events for local Meetup groups. This can be emailed to you. You can also view events happening the current week, the newest and largest Meetup groups, and other interests. All this can be viewed while in the 'Meetup by City' tab. Wow.
