Proper Beach Wedding Attire for Wedding Guests

A beach theme wedding is usually more casual and intimate than the traditional church wedding ceremony. However, that is no excuse for guests to show up in sloppy clothing. A beach wedding is still a sacred ceremony that is shared with loved ones. Guests at beach weddings should honor the bride and groom by dressing appropriately.

There are some rules regarding proper attire for weddings. As with any other wedding, guidelines for beach wedding apparel depend upon the location of the wedding and the tone set for the wedding ceremony. If in doubt, phone the bride or maid of honor and ask.

Don't wear white at a wedding. This is proper wedding etiquette. The color white is a reserved privilege for the bride only. Wearing white to a wedding is an insult to the bride, even if the bride chooses not to wear white. Some people claim that this is an outdated wedding rule. But others still insist that wearing white to a wedding is improper. Since wedding guests don't know how the bride feels, don't wear white. Black is also an improper choice to wear at a wedding.

Denim is absolutely inappropriate to wear at weddings, even beach weddings. Other improper clothing for beach weddings are t-shirts or shorts. Wear a nice shirt and dress pants at the very least.

Dresses are more acceptable for women to wear to a beach wedding. Sundresses are popular attire for guests at beach weddings. Choose a pretty pastel. As previously mentioned, don't wear black or white.

Because of the windy conditions at some beach weddings, a long skirt would be a good choice for attending a beach theme wedding. A long pencil skirt is a perfect item for beach weddings. If you choose to wear a flowing, full skirt to a beach wedding, make sure that it is long enough. Otherwise, the wind may catch your skirt in an improper way.

Pants are acceptable for women to wear to beach weddings if they are dress pants. Linen pants would be nice for a beach theme wedding. A two piece coordinated pant suit is best.
