Now that you have a baby, be ready to see the doctor a lot. The first of these visits will be your infant's two month old check up. If this is your first child you may be unsure of what to expect. In this article you will find the most common things done for you baby in the doctor's office, the questions and milestones you may be asked about and some important questions to ask the doctor yourself. There are certain things that will happen at every check up for the first year. They will weigh and measure your baby. So before you go to the office, try to make sure your child is in loose fitting clothes as you will have to remove them for that process. Don't put them all on right after that. The doctor will need to come in and check all over the baby's body and make sure everything is functioning okay.
They will also ask you how many times the baby poops and pees a day. So try and take the week before the visit to take an average count. Take note of the color and amount. Make sure before you arrive at the office that you have written down those numbers and descriptions and bring the baby wipes as you'll have to change the diaper for sure at some point during the visit. Most offices may not carry an extra diaper so have that handy also.
Those first few things usually are done by the nurse and then there is a waiting period for the doctor after that. So if you're nursing, you should try and feed the baby while waiting for the doctor. If you're bottle feeding, have a bottle ready to feed while waiting. You may not have to stop feeding the baby as some doctors can check some things about the baby while they are feeding. It is also good to be feeding when the doctor comes in because they can see first hand how well the baby is eating.
After the doctor has checked everything he/she needs to while your baby is not clothed, don't rush to dress the child yet. Get the diaper back on, but if you have any concerns with things that are visible on the baby's body, you may want to point that out to your doctor. After that it should be fine to get the baby dressed, but only the onesie. There are still shots to come near the end of the appointment.
