This time the distance will double the first -
O Katya! my dreams are too much for me
As I travel from pure waters to green
And doff my prescence from the land we nursed.

Eternal love seems to spring infinite -
O Katya! but so do seasons of grass! -
Where now sun beats, rain and snow pelt and blast.
But the seed’s flame therein stays ever lit,

Dandling unsteady in duty’s fury -
O Katya! to summer, to the next breath,
To struggle for that spark better than death,
And so am I brave; I am brave for thee.

Beyond any rest, this light in my chest,
O Katya! stays lit despite this duress.
