I have a history of diabetes and heart problems in my family so, when it comes to staying in shape, I go out of my way to employ the best equipment to make sure I'm doing the job right. The Omron Body Fat Analyzer (model # HBF-306C) was given to me as an incentive through my insurance company's rewards program. When I first received it, I didn't think it was going to be very accurate but, later on, when I had my annual exam and they did the same test, I learned it was right on target and now it's something I use on a regular basis.
The body fat analyzer is easy to use. You hold it in your hands and press the start button. It takes about 7 seconds and it returns a reading. It's quick, it's painless and it gives me a better picture of how well my exercise routine is working than what I would get if I just relied on my bathroom scale.
The analyzer works similar to the tests a doctor might run. When you're holding the device, it sends a weak electrical current into your body and measures how long it takes to go through your body. I have used the analyzer several times and have yet to feel anything from that current. It's actually a bit similar to a scale I once owned. Only that scale required me to have wet feet for it to work properly and the readings weren't very accurate. The Omron analyzer is also small enough and light enough to be stored on a shelf or in your closet when you're not using it.
One thing I like about the Omron Body Fat Analyzer is the fact it not only measures my body fat, it records it for me too. Plus, it has enough memory to record data for nine other people; even though my wife is the only other one who uses it.
Omron also recognizes that every person is different and has programmed their analyzer to take a person's daily exercise routine into account. You program the analyzer on a scale of 1 through 5 based on the number of days you exercise in a week, the length of your workouts and the intensity of those workouts. You also need to program in your height, weight and gender before it starts measuring.
If you're a person who wants more detail about how healthy you are than what a scale will give you, the Omron Body Fat Analyzer is a tool you should consider buying.
