Anime Review of Death Note: Ultimate Cat and Mouse Game

Cat and Mouse with a Supernatural and Technological Twist

"Death Note" is a very popular Japanese anime series which lasts up to thirty-seven episodes that ran from 2006-2007. This anime series combines the crime drama, supernatural, and psychological thrillers perfectly. This is the ultimate
cat and mouse game with a supernatural twist with the two main protagonists trying to hunt each other down. However, the two main protagonists do not know each other only by reputation. They do not know each other real identities no what they look like. There is definitely a lot of suspense and drama that will keep views constantly guessing what's happening next.

The series is also heavily influenced by Japanese mythology dealing with "Shinigami" whom are death gods which are the equivalent of the Grim Reaper. It presents the third protagonist named Ryuk who is a Shinigami. In the realm of the Shinigami, nothing happens as they feel sheer boredom. All Shinigami seem to be bored and thus act like a bunch of lazy bums. Each Shinigami have a black book called a "Death Note" that nobody knows what it is in the time being. Ryuk apparently had "lost" his Death Note as the other Shinigami tend to make fun of him. But it isn't what it seems as Ryuk had strong reasons for "losing" his Death Book. The Death Book fell from the world above and ended up in the "human world" which is Earth.

By fate, the first major protagonist Light Yagami a very intelligent student who seems to be unrecognized finds the book. He happens to be familiar with the Death Note but thought it was a fluke at first as the notebook was laying there. The Death Note has these specific rules and instructions:

- The human whose name is written in this note shall die.

- This note will not take effect unless the writer has the subject's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.

- If the cause of death is written within forty seconds of writing the subject's name, it will happen.

- If the cause of death is not specified, the subject will simply die of a heart attack.

- After writing the cause of death, the details of the death should be written within the next six minutes and forty seconds.
