Why "We" Are Not Responsible for Cleaning Up George W. Bush's Screw-Up in Iraq

I keep hearing a refrain on the news that I find disturbing. It is conventionally agreed that Pres. Bush's grandiose plans for Iraq to become a shining beacon of democracy that would create a domino effect throughout the region have been an utter failure and he
is now reduced merely to finding a way to let someone who actually knows what they are doing clean up his mess the way his mommy and daddy used to bail him out when he got stinking drunk and did something stupid. It is agreed that the invasion of Iraq has produced far more problems and dangerous instability than existed before Pres. Bush made America into a schoolyard bully who thinks the swings, the slide and the merry-go-round all belong to him. And yet, because "we" created this problem, "we" can't leave until it is fixed.

Um, excuse me, but I had nothing to do with this problem. None of those soldiers over there had anything to do with this problem. No dead soldier had anything to do with this problem. The overwhelming majority of Americans bear no responsibility for this mess. It seems to me only fair that the people who should clean it up are the ones who made the mess. And yet they are the ones who will have the least thing to do with taking care of their responsibility.

Bush has done no crimes. Defending the American people is not a crime. Saddam on the other hand was a huge criminal who was paying European diplomats lots of money. The crimes should be counted towards them for taking bribes. Your typical charges are nothing more than silly "wannabe" ones. Bush is the best president in a long time, although he is not perfect. I give him a grade of 80%. Carter a grade of 35%, Clinton 40% for being a dirt bag.

The World Court, the U.N...all jokes. Throw the U.N out, and the World Court is as reliable as the believing Mugabe is a saint.

President Bush saved your butt, like it or not. How many bombings have we had since he launched the Iraq War? How many terrorist plots? Tim, as usual, you are a far sighted fool for not understanding, this is the most important president since Lincoln.

Regarding Bush: In 2004 when I ran for President, Bush had my name stricken from the ballots (even though this is "supposedly" illegal). The fact that I was calling for him to be arrested and turned over to the World Court to stand trial for his crimes against humanity apparently scared the you-know-what out of him. So much for a lawful election. He guaranteed himself a win. Also in 2004, in Philadelphia, voting machines were found pre-loaded with thousands of Bush votes. Bush illegally declared us at war with the Taliban (which is NOT a country) and invaded Iraq in violation of several world laws. The President doesn't have the authority to declare war, yet Bush did. Bush is not only a criminal, he's a murderer too, even if only by proxy.

Quite unfortunately the "me" part of "we" and many others of like proclivities are still represented by Bush even though we didn't vote for him. It's really sour grapes to say that because he was not my candidate, I'm not responsible. He's all of our problem now, and unfortunately we are responsible. Our nation's sorry reputation will never get fixed if we don't all take the unpleasantly responsibility for having foisted Bush on the world and help clean up the mess.

It seems that Bush's way of cleaning the mess up is to have more fallen soldiers. I just loss a relative due to the war in Iraq and I am very dissapointed in the outcome. So many soldiers wanted to join to fight for what they thought was right, but now that my nephew is still over there, he is beginning to wonder what they are really fighting for. My second cousin loss his life due to an ambush on the trucks, one that they were told to go into. I like your point of view on this and your wrote a well written arguement on this.

Yes, the democrats diddenythe voter franchise to African Americans - along with the Republicans of course -this goes without saying. The Democrats werehonestly afraid of having too many African American votes and scaring away white voters. I agree with you that it would be nice to ship all the people who still support this war over to Iraq but that will never happen and it sounds like sour grapes to me - not that there's anything wrong once in awhile with a good bitchfest but we liberals have been stomping on these grapes for awhile too and in our way we all helped to make this bitter winethat we nowall have to drink. We need to win damn it - and I'm not speaking about in Iraq. We need to take this country back and then actually follow our principles anddo the right thing for those less fortunate - starting right here in the good ol' U.S.A.

ons in the first place. We "liberals" are supposed to be better than the big bad conservatives. Well, there comes a time when saying I toldyou so doesn't help anymore. We need to be the ones with clear eyes, broad backs, steely-eyed determination and the willingness to sacrifice for posterity. It will only be through showing the true hope, conviction, and determination of real liberalism that we will ever haveany chance to steal away the American public from these liars and losers. Wewill never win as long as we keep being equally big liars and losers ourselves.

I have to say I disagree with you here Tim. You make some good points but it's a little bit of a cheap shot for the following reasons. First George W.Bush wouldn't even be the president if Democrats and liberals had stood by their convictions and not looked the other way or been complicit in the denial of voter rights to African Americans in Florida (and elsewhere)I heard this on NPR and nobody ever reports on how the Democratic party in several of those contested counties (actually this is a common practice nationwide I'm afraid)was either complicit in or overtly directed the denial of the vote to African Americans with the same last names as convicted felons. Nobody reports on this because nobody but nobody wantsto admit that the whiterace is still plenty bigoted and terrified of these people. Hell, Tim wedeserve what's happened tousin Iraq because we liberals and radicals didn't win. Crying in our beer isn't going to help anything. This whining is the very reason we never win electi
