When I see the names Jodie Foster and Terrance Howard starring in the same film I just know the odds are pretty high that it will be a good movie. I was able to attend a sneak preview of "The Brave One" which stars Foster and Howard and the odds were in my favor because the movie was excellent.

"The Brave One" is a story about a woman named Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) who lives and hosts a radio show in New York City. Erica Bain is engaged to the love of her life and is planning her dream wedding to Dr. David Kirmani (Naveen Andrews). David and his family are all that Erica has, as she has no real family to speak of. That is until one fateful night when it is all taken away during an attack in Central Park. Both Erica and her fiancé are brutally beaten by a gang of men. David is beaten to death and Erica is put into a three week coma. When Erica awakes she learns that her beloved David is dead and she had missed his funeral do to her coma. All that Erica knew and loved is now gone. She is left with the painful memory of the attack and the ghostly memory of her beloved fiancé, David.

As Erica recovers from external wounds, internal wounds seem to grow stronger as they begin to paralyze her with fear. As her fear grows she makes a decision that will forever change her from the person she once knew. She decides to purchase a gun so she can feel safe again on the streets of New York City. As fate would have it Erica finds herself in another kill or be killed situation. Erica takes charge and fires her gun in self defense as she kills a man for the very first time. After this is done there is no turning back for Erica, an alter ego is now born, an ego that the police will soon refer to as a vigilante.
