Every year, my family spends time at Cannon Beach in Oregon. One of our favorite hotels is the Hallmark Inn. There are many good things about the Hallmark Inn and one BAD.

First the GOOD:

The Rooms -

If you can, get an Oceanfront one facing Haystack. We have a large family so we usually get one of the suites since it is cheaper than two smaller ones. All of their rooms have small refrigerators but we always try to get one of with a complete kitchen. The price is rather high in season; $299-$359 for the oceanfront suites but drop when during the value season to $189 - $259. They also offer specials which help lower the price even more.

There are also limited and non-view rooms available for a lesser amount. Some of them also have full kitchens - be sure to ask so you can get whichever type you need.

The View-

Again, the Oceanfront rooms are the ones with the great views. Many of them look directly onto Haystack, which is always a plus. There are balconies on some of the room and nice windows on all of them so you can always enjoy the view. In addition, what is better than cracking the window so you can hear the ocean?

Doggies Welcomed -

They are per friendly and when you check -in your dog gets a basket of goodies! We got a portable water dish, a Frisbee, chew toy and a dog biscuit. They also have a dog wash-up shower on the stairs up from the beach. There is an extra charge (depending on the number and size) for dogs but for us, it is worth it as our dog really LOVES running on the beach and in the water!

The Amenities -

The Hallmark Inn has a nice heated, indoor pool to enjoy year round. It is located in a separate building so, depending on where your room is you could have a bit of area to cover getting to and from the pool! There are also hot tubs right there so you can easily go from one to the other or sit in one and still sees the older kids in the pool.

They have a nice fitness area with up to date equipment. It has always been either empty or with only one other person in it so I have never had to wait to get a machine. However, for a real treat, you can get a wonderful massage from one of their on-site massage therapist.

Did You Know?
When I was a kid, we could climb Haystack rock but now, a lot of the area is blocked off to protect the rock and the sealife that lives there.

I love the fact that dogs are welcome. I'm like you, I don't like the stairs. Otherwise sounds great!

Great review, sounds like a wonderful vacation spot especially in the off season. I agree, the stairs do put a damper on things for little ones and those with physical limitations.

You know I never saw and handicap access and they couldn't have an elevator - it really is a shame they don't have another way down to the beach!

I love Oregon and the hotel sounds delightful but the stairs would beat me. Do they not have handicap access? If not they really should. I would love to go there.
