Ladies and gentlemen, here is the big news: The new Indiana Jones film is now named, and the title will be "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

Despite the fact that the titles already registered were "Indiana Jones and the City of Gods" or even "Indiana Jones and the Destroyer of Worlds," the next movie will be named "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". For months, Internet and fandom has been buzzing about what the title will be.

The film is set to be released in May 2008, and will feature Steven Spielberg at the helm once again. The news was dropped by Actor Shia LaBeouf on Saturday night during the MTV video music awards. Lucasfilm confirmed the title of the movie is a press release on Monday.

The cast, as announced so far, includes actors Harrison Ford (Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones Jr.), Shia LeBeouf, Cate Blanchett and Ray Winstone. This movie is believed to be set in the 1950's, a decade or two later than the setting of the part Indian Jones movies. The previous titles include Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Indiana Jones himself is famous for his fedora and bullwhip, and snide remarkers that accompany his demenor.

I personally look forward to this installment. In a day of actors who stride around on the screen with fake bravado and macho attitudes, Harrison Ford brings Indiana Jones alive as a character we can relate to and love all in the same way. The men want to be him, the ladies want to be with him-he is the ultimate hero on the big screen.
