Watching the sloppy game between the Packers and Eagles on Sunday, one of the announcers commented about the difference in speed between a pre-season game and a regular season game and the impact that has on rookie players. That's very true.

In fact, the same thing can be said about trying to evaluate a team during the pre-season when its starters only play a few series. When the regular season comes around and those starters have to play a full game, then you get a better feel about what your team has to offer.

So, after surviving opening weekend with a 9-7 record, I'm now able to sit back, look at how the teams performed and can go into my second week of predictions with a little more knowledge.

Bills at Steelers - The Steelers absolutely man-handled the Browns on the road last week. But, that's not really saying all that much either considering the Browns best quarterback is a rookie. The Bills lost last week at home against Denver but the Broncos didn't win easily. I think this week, they go 1-1 while playing for fallen Kevin Everett. Bills beat Steelers.

Saints at Buccaneers - If you ever want to see a team get brought back down to Earth, re-watch the Saints being dismantled by the Colts last Thursday. I'm going to give both Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning and the Colts defense credit for that. The Buccaneers won't stand a chance. Saints win.

Texans at Panthers - Houston had no problem running over the Kansas City Chiefs last weekend. But, the Chiefs don't have a legitimate passer. The Panthers do and should have confidence after coming off a hard-fought victory against the Rams. Panthers beat Texans.

Falcons at Jaguars - Both teams are 0-1 after the Falcons were dominated by the Vikings and the Jaguars lost a close one at home to the Texans. The Falcon's offense definitely misses Michael Vick's running ability. But, even though the stats and scoreboard don't show it, Joey Harrington quietly had a solid game and I think he will show up and be the difference maker this week. Falcons beat Jaguars.

The Dolphins/Cowboys game is going to come down to the play calling of Cam Cameron versus Jason Garrett. I'll go with Cameron on that. The Patriots are the latest team to attempt the Randy Ratio (as in, give Randy Moss the ball and he will take us to great things). That's a strategy that won Dennis Green, Mike Tice, Norv Turner and Art Shell a combined zero championships. And, the first two had Moss when he was the most dominant player in the NFL.

I don't think the Dolphins beat the Cowboys. It was interesting to watch them have to outscore an opponent with their new DEFENSIVE minded coach. Also, you really think the colts are that much better than the Patriots this year? The Colts D definitely surprised me in week 1 though - guess we'll see.
