Do you reciprocate? When a fellow Content Producer comments on your article, do you in turn, comment on theirs? I have been a CP since March of this year and have found myself becoming lax in reciprocating in the past few months. I made the decision last night to read and comment on one article from each topic, beginning with Arts & Entertainment and working my way down.

A few months ago, in the forums, a reciprocation thread was started. It is possibly still going on, I would not know, as I have not visited the forums in quite some time. I did find it to be a good idea not only to give and get a few extra page views, but also to see the varying writing styles of other Content Producers. I also received a few new ideas for my own articles.

As I began reading an article from each topic, I began to wonder just how many people would reciprocate. Assuming that most Content Producers are like myself, and check their email each day for comments, I figured that I would receive an obligatory comment from approximately twenty-five to thirty percent of the comments I had left. I was wrong.

I commented on no less than twenty-one articles, some comments contained no more than the words "great article," however I did comment. It has now been over twenty-four hours and I have received only one reciprocation. Granted there are no rules or standards that dictate that one must reciprocate, however, I had hoped that I would receive a few page views for my efforts.

I do not consider my little experiment a waste of time. I was thoroughly entertained, educated, enlightened, and even grossed out a little from the articles I chose to read. I now plan to visit each of the over two hundred articles I have had published to do just as I had hoped the authors of the articles I read last night would have done. Reciprocate.

Upon finishing this article and submitting it (for no upfront payment, of course), I will visit my CP page and check each article for comments that I have not given an obligatory reciprocating comment. I realize that the bulk of my page views will not be received from other CP's , though it is nice to get one when you give one.

I'm actually surprised, I have found most people reciprocate and usually on several articles.

i agree rate (if you re going to raise it) but if you are going to down rate don't bother. I try to comment as well on all but at times it gets difficult with all the reading, it is overwhelming to say the least. I'll try to do better then.

Nice one, and yes I do my best to visit everyone I can who leaves a comment as you did (Thank you) on one of my articles, and yes here I am passing a comment, and because I like your articles I will also be subscribing to you once I have finished doing this comment, lol. As Sophie said they can take me a long time to do, especially as my soppy cat has just landed on my lap, spoilt monster who makes me do typos, lol

Of course, you have to be able to FIND them.

Usually, I reciprocate, especially if it's someone previously unknown to me. Conversely, there's a group of folks where we have a previously established pattern of commenting when we have something cogent to say. So, it depends.

Angela, A good article and I try to reciprocate if I read a meaningful comment. If I receive an "interesting" - it really means little. I will react to a thoughtful comment or even a criticism. Generally I review the portfolio of the commenting party and will read and respond to an article that attracts my attention. Perhaps I'm an idealist - I write to vent about issues or interests that I have and read about topics that are of interest to me. I hope that my articles attract interest because they are stimulating or thought provoking. I have written a few articles simply to acquire page views. "Duracell vs Energizer" is one of those articles and it seems to have worked. I'm sometimes amazed at what attracts page views. Anyway these are my random thoughts.

Hi Angela...Great article! I have always tried to comment on others work. However, if someone makes a comment, I usually try to retun the favor.

I try to reciprocate. I normally go to that person's page and do it as soon as I get the email. I used to check email daily but has been moved to every other day. I have read the article and just not commented on them as well, on some CP's. I have noticed that a great deal do that to mine as well. As one article has over 200 page views, yet maybe 5-10 comments.

Yes! I try to make sure I reciprocate each day. It can take a long time to get through! Sophie

Oh, be sure and rate the articles that you read, like and comment on!! That gets attention and lets the writer know you really like their article! :-) Be kind with comments. I usually do not comment if I do not like the article. Those are my tips!

Yes! Do comment often and subscribe! I love to read and do leave comments. It takes longer than a day though, try doing it when you have time, for a few weeks. I love writing product reviews and reading them. I found this to a great area to get and give feedback. It benefits all of us, so keep trying. If someone subscribes to you, subscribe back, if possible. I have found many great writers this way and love their work. :-) Great subject and article. Thanks for sharing this.

When I first started with AC I read an article that said most of our readers would be other CP's which is why I liked the comments to know who they are so I could reciprocate. We all have different interests. But I will read a sports article if someone left me a comment and find something to say on the subject, even if it is only "good job" or "great article".
