The best thing to do with a beaver is keep the beaver in a large kennel or cage outdoors. You will need a cage that is at least ten feet by ten feet. You should place a lot of wood in the cage for your beaver to keep itself amused. You can bring the beaver indoors, but do not leave it alone unattended or you will end up with a few problems. When you leave for the day, remember to place the beaver back into the kennel or cage.
Beavers have a very strict diet which you will work hard to obtain. They do not eat meat and they will most likely not eat vegetables or fruits on an every day basis. They eat things such as roots and some types of tree bark, much like chipmunks. It can be a problem finding food for a pet beaver to eat. You might want to look on-line for a website that is strictly dedicated to pet beavers and see what the owners feed their pets. Don't just throw some wood in the cage and expect the beaver to eat like it would in the wild.
Beavers are incredibly smart animals. They are very helpful in the wild. When they build dams, the water back ups and insects, bugs and larger animals drink this water and feed on what is in the water. Beavers are obsessed with builds dams and they are very good at it. They can build a dam that is about 20 feet long in a matter of a couple days. You can imagine what a beaver would do to your home if left alone for a couple of days.
