Following are some of the best hotels in St. Pete Beach, Florida.
Don Cesar Beach Resort., A Loews Hotel. Florida's Legendary Pink Palace has been a luxury resort since 1928. Th pink resort was built to resemble the Royal Hawaiian in Waikiki Beach. The Don was the hot spot for high society until the Depression. The widow of the founder lost the resort to back taxes in the 1940's. The resort became a convalescent home for wounded WWII veterans.
In 1945 the former resort became a Veterans Administration building and stripped down. In 1969 the last of the government abandoned the building which had deteriorated into becoming an eyesore. In 1972 a group of preservationists found a buyer with a vision of renovating the building to its former grandeur. In 1973 the hotel reopened as a luxury resort.
In 1975 the Don CeSar was named to the National Register of Historic Places. In 1989 the hotels is selected by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a founding member of the Historic Hotels of America. Since that time, the hotel has been further enhances. In 2003 the Don CeSar celebrated int 75th anniversary. The Spa at Don CeSar offers an extensive variety of massage treatments.
