Here's a good trivia question that might stump your friends. In the past ten years who has won more games in the Florida-Ole Miss series? Florida would be the obvious answer, after all they've been one of the best teams in college football in the past ten years and Ole Miss is...well, they are Ole Miss. The truth is that Ole Miss is 2 - 0 against Florida in the last ten years. Ole Miss was fortunate enough that the two years Florida rotated onto the schedule they were led by Eli Manning and Ron Zook led the Gators. Now it's four years later and Ron Zook is gone and Urban Meyer is in. Eli Manning is in the NFL now and the Ole Miss quarterback is Seth Adams. Seth Adams is actually have a pretty good season. Seth Adams is third in the SEC in passing yards per game, behind only Erik Ainge and Tim Tebow, and Adams has actually played two teams from BCS conferences to start the season.
If Seth Adams can play well then the Ole Miss Rebels fans at least have an inkling of a hope to win this game. Florida has a very high powered offense and the rushing defense doesn't look like it is going to suffer a whole lot from the graduated players but the passing defense is definitely the Gators' weakness. Against Troy the Gators gave up 283 yards to Omar Haugabook, that's more yards than Tim Tebow threw against Troy.
Unfortunately for Ole Miss whatever different there is between the Ole Miss passing game and Florida's passing defense there is an even bigger gap between Florida's passing game and the Ole Miss passing defense. The Ole Miss pass defense is last in the SEC while Florida's passing is first in the SEC. It could be a very long night for the Ole Miss defensive backs unless Tim Tebow's throwing ability is only a mirage because of the poor teams they have played so far.
Both teams rank higher in passing offense than they do in rushing offense but again Florida is more deadly on the ground than Ole Miss. BenJarvis Green-Ellis of Ole Miss does have more rushing yards than anybody on the Gators but that's only because the Gators spread it out more with Kestahn Moore, Tim Tebow and sometimes even Percy Harvin.
