You've probably heard at one point or another, that drinking Green Tea can be good for your health. But how good is it? And what good does it do to drink it? Well, I am here today to shed some light on the tasty subject.

Green tea has a history dated back to about 4,000 years ago, and has been a popular drink upon the Asian cultures since it was introduced. Lately though, Green tea is becoming more and more popular in the United States and various other countries, because of it's reported health benefits. Green tea is made from the dried leaves of the Camellia plant and contains an antioxidant called Epigallocatechin-Gallate (EGCG). This tea has been reported to restrain the growth of cancer cells, and has also been known to help many other medical conditions such as arthritis, high cholesterol, heart disease, and many stomach problems as well.

In cancer alone, Green tea is reported to have found reduction of growth in existing cancer cells, and stopping the growth of new cells. In some cases, Green tea has been suggested to have the ability to even prevent cancers in such places as the stomach, lung, prostate and breast, which is great news for both women and men! And while this great product is still under research, some cases have also shown that EGCG may actually cause cancer cells to die just as our normal cells do.

Aside from the more serious health benefits of drinking Green tea, there are some day to day health benefits to drinking the tea as well. Researchers have shown that adding Green tea to your diet can be a great way to maintain your weight. It has been known to help boost your metabolism, reduce your appetite and and burn off fat cells faster. Green tea may also help prevent tooth decay, aide in bacterial infections, and promote healthy skin.
