Ty Pennington, host of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) when he was a teenager. Ty will share his personal experience about living with ADHD during the Ninth Annual ADHD Experts on Call program, Wednesday, September 19, 2007 from 8 a.m. to midnight EDT.

September 19, 2007 is National ADHD Awareness Day and the nation's top experts on ADHD will answer your questions about ADHD during the ADHD Experts on Call program. You can call a confidential toll-free hotline at 1-888-275-2343 or participate in a live chat with ADHD experts at ADHDExpertsOnCall.com.

Ty Pennington will join noted clinical psychologist Dr. Michael Manos from the Cleveland Clinic, in a free one-hour webcast on September 19, 2007 from noon to 1 p.m. EDT at ADHDExpertsOnCall.com. For more information about Ty's ADHD story, click here.

English- and Spanish-speaking ADHD experts will include physicians, nurses, educators, and patient advocates. The ADHD experts cannot give specific medical advice or treatment, but they will help answer questions about:

* ADHD symptoms in children, teens, and adults

* How to talk to teachers about ADHD-related needs

* Strategies for how to manage ADHD during the day

* How to handle ADHD in the family, on the job, and with friends

* Hereditary nature of ADHD

* Myths and misconceptions about ADHD

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is estimated that 4.4 million children, aged 4-17, have been diagnosed with ADHD by a healthcare professional. As of 2003, 2.5 million of those youth were receiving medications to treat their ADHD disorder. As many as half of those diagnosed with ADHD also have other mental disorders that can make it difficult to diagnose and treat ADHD. ADHD is diagnosed approximately three times more often in boys than in girls.
