Executive Director, Donna Lacey will be on-air on Friday, September 14th, 9am to talk about the clinic and the planned festivities scheduled to take place on September 18th. Donna shares her excitement around the upcoming event, "We're really excited about the activities planned for this year's event and appreciate all of the support we're receiving from local media. It's heartwarming because I'm very passionate about what we do at CVIM."
The Charlotte Volunteers in Medicine Clinic focus on serving an underprivileged community with a special passion for men. Men are less likely than women to get regular medical check-ups and have a life expectancy of only 72 years, while women have an average life expectancy of 78.8 years.
According to the CDC men ages 35 - 85 are at greater risk of developing cancer or heart disease. Early detection is the only solution to managing and/or preventing these illnesses, along with educational materials focusing on health and wellness.
Take A Loved One to the Doctor Day is part of a national campaign by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services which focuses on the health gap between minority populations and the general population. Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day is used as a day to encourage individuals to see a health care professional on September 18th or to make an appointment to see a health care professional and begin taking charge of your health.
