When you visit the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park you are in for a great time. In the winters the South Rim Road is closed after you reach the Gunnison Point for driving, but many people enjoy a day of cross-country skiing on it. Bring your gear and plan to have a wonderful experience. The North Rim Road and the ranger station is closed in the winter, so keep that in mind when you are planning a visit. If you need good directions they will be able to provide you with them and ask them for a brochure that tells you a lot more about the site. They will be very helpful when you contact them, so don't hesitate to call them. Their information will be so beneficial for you and it will help you to get the most out of your visit to the site.

There are a couple things to remember when you are going to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. There is an entrance fee and you will have to pay it when you reach the South Rim or the North Rim entrances. The fee is $15 if you are coming by vehicle. For others coming in it is $7 a person. For children under 16 years of age there is not an admission fee. You will also find that the scenery is fantastic at this national historic site. With plenty of opportunities to take some wonderful photographs, make sure that you bring along your camera and make good use of it. Also a pair of binoculars will come in handy for bird and wildlife watching while you are there. Don't forget that wearing the proper shoes and clothing will allow you to get around quicker and more comfortably. Plan on doing a lot of walking when you visit this site and know that it will be a great experience.
