Reclaiming the Rainbow

A Poetic Plea

14

God called. He wants His rainbow back.
It's under ethical attack.
This multi-hued aesthetic beam
Has come to stand for things extreme.

He placed a rainbow in the sky
To demonstrate to passers-by
That He would never flood the earth
If humankind should need rebirth.

God called. He wants His rainbow back.
Those banners take it on a tack
He never meant for us to go.
We've so distorted all we know.

He once wiped out the total race,
Save two-by-two, to fill their place.
As folks loved evil and lived lies;
When will we come to realize?

God called. He wants His rainbow back.
We're traveling the dead-wrong track.
Exchanging truth for false, we flaunt
And side with evil, nonchalant.

His patience may be wearing thin;
For folks who relish every sin.
If we pursue pleasure-plethora,
What about Sodom and Gomorrah?

God called. He wants His rainbow back.
We've turned His colors all to black,
Behaving worse than those pre-Flood
And spilling one another's blood.

God called. He wants His rainbow back.
Look! Now He comes with all we lack!
