Back again for another season is NBC's Biggest Loser. This season, however, is not like the previous seasons. They are putting 18 overweight American's on the fast track to a better life. Under the guidance of doctors and trainers, the contestants are put through a rigorous diet and exercise program to change their lives.

This season has not two, but three trainers for the contestants, along with Alison Sweeney as the new host of the show. Bob Harper and Kim Lyons return to their positions as the leaders of the red and blue team, determined by the winners of a foot race across the desert.

After their initial meeting and foot race, the contestants get to know each other so that the team captains, Jerry for the blue team and Phil for the red team. The following morning, they gathered back together for the team picking. Bob's blue consists of Jerry, Kae, Neil, Nicole, Patty and Ryan. Kim's red team consists of Phil, Amber, Amy, Bryan, David and Lezlye. Once the teams were chosen, six people were left standing with the idea that they were going to be sent back home to go on without spending time with trainers.

Once the two teams were on the bus and on their way to the dorm, the remaining contestants learn that they are not being sent home, but that Jillian has returned to take them on and create her own black team. That's right folks, Jillian is back and badder than ever and her black team consisting of Bill, Hollie, Isabeau, Jez, Jim and Julie are going to spend the first two weeks together away from the other teams.

After meeting Jillian, the black team immediately dives into their workouts, getting put through the paces of a rough, sandy work-out. They had to hand giant tires, sand bags and each other's weight, learning how to work-out without the use of a gym. This was the first step in teaching them that there are no excuses not to work out, that they can work out wherever they are, no matter the conditions.
