Employ Perseverance and Persistence

Perseverance and persistence are very important for everyone to have. You will not go far in life if you do not consistently employ these two characteristics. A saying that helps me to persevere with endeavors that I am very passionate about is "People often give up when they are one step
 away from success".

I do not remember who initiated that saying but it is a slogan that I will never forget. You must never give up on doing something that is worthwhile and beneficial to the world.

I attended The University of Missouri at St. Louis. I struggled for a while but I gradually taught myself how to study effectively. I never would have graduated without using perseverance and persistence.

About ten years ago I started working at American Magnetite in St. Louis, Missouri as an in-store magnetic window display demonstrator. My official job function was to show homeowners who shopped at the local Sears stores how our magnetic windows would solve their problems of drafts, water damage, noise and ultraviolet ray damage without replacing their existing windows. The magnetic windows were simply inserted on the inside of the customers' current windows to provide superior insulation from cold, heat, moisture, loud noise and ultraviolet ray exposure.

I had to persistently approach all prospective customers at Sears and try to convince them to sign up for an appointment to have a free inspection and estimate at their houses. For a while I was not very good at the job but I hung in there and taught myself how to succeed. Thanks to my perseverance and persistence, I was promoted to a window display trainer. As a trainer, I taught new hires to do the window display demonstrations.

I have been running a website for a year. Running a successful Internet business has to be one of the toughest things in the world to accomplish. You have to attract visitors to your site and undergo a daunting task of encouraging them to stay on your site and sign up for an offer or perhaps buy your product.
