Chimpanzees steal fruits when the farmers are not there in the orchard. They may be the secret to stolen love. The British researchers think that in West Africa, chimps steal fruits from local farms to impress lady chimps. Dr. Kimberley Hockings of the University of Stirling finds the trick is successful. The male chimps have impressed their female counterparts with this technique. Dr. Hockings find that the adult male who gave the largest number of fruits to the female chimps get more consortships and get the grooming the maximum number of times! It often exceeds the alpha male. So a stolen fruit can win the heart of a chimp and get attention from her, this is what the wild chimps have learnt from their experience! Dr. Hockings opined that it is an attractive trait. Often we find wild crop raids by the adult male chimps. This is a routine sharing of plant foods often seen by many villagers. The chimps love to take papaya. They share this fruit with their unrelated members. They also love to eat oranges and pineapple. The food items loved by all and when these items are shared by the male chimps it helps their social bonding!! The males like to share food found in open lands and under the presence of local people. Dr. Hockings showed that the male chimps advertise their bravery in taking that fruit from that risky place. This is shown clearly by rough self-scratching. It reflects that these chimps are anxious!!

This is most interesting. This is amazing, but then males have been impressing their ladies ever since the beginning, so guess we should not be surprised. HUH!
