Taking a bat into your home will rob the bat of it's freedom in the wild. The bat will never be the same again. It cannot fly around like it normally would. A bat will not fly at all if it feels like it's trapped inside of a cage. All animals need to get exercise in order to live a full, healthy life. We cannot possibly feed a bat everything that it would get to eat on an every day basis. We can try to replicate it as much as possible but it will never happen.
Bats are not allowed to be kept inside of your home unless you have a license to do so which may be complicated to get. If you are caught with a bat and you do not have a license, the bat will be taken away and you will have to go to court and face a fine. Taking a wild animal into your home is harming the animal in a lot of ways. The animal will never again be able to roam freely and eat things it usually would eat. It will never get as much exercise and it will no longer be able to socialize with other animals of it's own kind.
You will never be able to feel comfortable owning a bat because the only way to find out if it has rabies is to kill the bat. If the bat bites you and you need to find out if it had rabies you will have to kill the bat to find out. Nobody wants to live with a pet that might be carrying diseases and it's highly likely. It's best to enjoy bats in the wild but do not take them into your home. Keepings bats as pets is wrong. Zoos keep many bats but this is for a complete set of different reasons. Zoos are also a lot more capable of replicating their natural environment.
