Chris Crocker--The Salvation of Modern Pop Culture

Heroes give us hope, hope in something beyond us, hope for the human condition. History gives us choices in what we believe. History bestows bewildered accounts for us to grapple with. We can choose to believe one version of history over another. We have the opportunity to sort through letters, videos, media, books, articles, journals, or even documents hidden in city archives and decide right from wrong. We can reject a source, one we deem wrong or offensive in nature. We can protest what society says about one figure in history or another. We have the choice to listen to a source, the person who is making history in the moment or we can listen to society's opinion on the source.

One person who has recently given society a choice is Chris Crocker, an internet celebrity, whose passion in teaching society a lesson about transparency is something that mainstream talk show hosts, actors, and comedians have only recently recognized. Understanding history and someone like Chris Crocker boils down to simply choice. We have a choice to act or react to the Chris Crockers who draw out something we do or do not like about ourselves.
