There are so many options available when it comes to purchasing your next/first laptop. I read an article about an Acer laptop that cost $499, and was originally $899 - and just to add to that, Walmart has an Acer available for $398 for those that would prefer to stay under $400.

Many people build their own computers - so you may want to ask around to see if someone may be willing to put one together for you, which would likely save a chunk of change. Schools sell computers that they no longer need - so it could pay off to make a few calls in your area to find out more information.

In terms of purchasing a laptop from Dell, and potentially saving the most money, you can go directly to: www.dellauctions.com
You could also go to www.craigslist.org and click on 'barter' where you could barter something of value that you no longer need for the laptop you need, that someone else no longer needs.

Alternatively, you can log on to: www.priceline.com and name your own price, or any of the other sites where you can name your own price.

There are good deals to be found at 'Fry's Electronics', and there may be other electronic stores that need to unload inventory - so calling around could pay off. A

Once you have your well-chosen laptop, take a look at www.notebookshop.com/product_info.php which has information about the best security for your system (they also sell laptops). They sell a security package called 'Anti-Cyber Crime' which usually sells for $97.50, however it is currently on sale through the 'Jeff Levy radio special' for $39.50 (today's date being sept. 14th) and here is a product description:

VERY helpful!!! I have the most problems w/ laptops than anybody I know! It's part of the reason I didn't have any articles published during winter. Definitely something everybody should read about! Thanks!
