Promises never last forever
This you taught me
This I know
Promises never last forever
They are just empty words
Said for show
I dared to believe in you
But you refused to return the favor
Didn't return the courtesy
I dared to believe in you
But you let me down
You refused to believe in me
I kept all my promises
Meant them from the bottom of my heart
But you broke each and every one
And rendered my heart apart
Piece by piece, wound by wound
But still I bleed
Waiting for first aid
Promises never last forever
You broke every promise you ever made
You made promises to me
To our daughter
To our son
You made promises to lots of people
But you broke every one
Promises never last forever
This you taught me
This I know
Promises never last forever
They are just empty words
Said for show
I thought things were getting better
That maybe you had finally changed
But the more I expect from you
The more things remain the same
It's still me doing all the work
Raising our family alone
Don't give me that crap about us not being together
I did not have them on my own
It's time to grow up and be a man
And learn to keep your word
It's time for you to stop being a child
It's time for you to stop acting absurd
You now have three children
You need to set a good example
You need to be a good role model
Your bad examples have been ample
Promises never last forever
This you taught me this I know
Promises never last forever
They are just empty words
Said for show....
Especially when you say them

~The End~

Promises Never Last Forever

I will be strong.
