There are instances where you may not be able to have access to your own computer. Perhaps, you went out of town on business and you are still working on that big presentation. I am going to let you know how you can have some portable Office software that you can carry with you in your purse, or wallet.

You will have the ability to carry your computer documents and everything you need to edit them, save them, all in a pen memory stick. The first thing you will need is a USB memory stick and it should have a 1.0 - 1.5 gig capacity. The bigger the memory stick the better because you can add other apps which will increase your productivity. You will also be able to keep your documents and slideshows organize on the drive.

Luckily this is one of those instances where some kind programmer put it together for us and they are giving it away for free. The software is called PortableApps.com Suite. This software will install an entire office suite onto your USB drive making it run from the drive and it does not rely on the computer that you are plugging into.

With this software suite you get a massive host of software. You get a full Office Suite, You get a Firefox web browser, and the Thunderbird email client. The great thing about installing this suite to your USB drive is that no matter what computer you plug in, your data is there and your personal settings are there as well.

Now, the software is 100% free and you can download to you computer and install that way. Another great feature is that you can install to your hard drive as well, for those that have small hard drives. Once you download the software make sure that you USB memory device is plugged into you computer. Then run the downloaded program and follow the prompts.

When you are done you will have a virtual portable office which holds your personal preferences. It also holds your documents and the software needed to work with you projects. If you are interested just click the citations link and you can see it for yourself.
