We all have them; a stationary workout bicycle whose main function for the last year was to hang your bathrobe on in passing. Or that set of dishes that you may have picked up for a bargain at a yard sale because it brought back a piece of nostalgia; but now that you have looked at it, displayed in your dining room for three months, you now know why your mother or grandmother parted with it.
There are numerous items that we try and catalogue to resell or donate year in and year out when the spring cleaning bug hits, but there may be a much better way to get more out of it. Any item that you could think of you can now recycle on the internet. A simple search will show you what I'm talking about. Here are but a few examples: One organization that can be very helpful is Freecycle at the website www.freecycle.org. This particularly useful site will let you sign up for your local, online mailing list, which is gratis, meaning no cost to you at all. In turn you will be sent notification when someone else on the list has placed items for recycling. You can choose the ones you are interested in and send them a response by email to obtain the article.
Of course, you don't want to just pick up free stuff and not have anything to give in return. That would be a quick way to earn a bad reputation. Make sure that you are aware of what you have to offer the Freecycle community. It won't take long for you to begin seeing your used items, that you no longer need or want, start moving on to happier homes. What you will gain is that item that you possibly have been looking forever for, and that will make you happy.
Another great place to visit is the website www.neighborrow.com. This website works in pretty much the same fashion as Freecycle, but with an added flair. Working through a local mailing list, you have the opportunity to recycle your used treasures. However; Neighborrow goes the extra mile and lets you borrow items such as movies, dvds, games, etc. from your neighbors. Make sure that you are willing to be devoted to this and if you are, there are rewards to be had.
