I have personally been a member of moveon.org for some time, and am very proud of the affiliation. In a slightly funny twist (if it wasn't such a serious topic) I actually wrote an article using the General "betray us" line before I knew moveon.org was using it. Like minds, I suppose. The ad placed by www.moveon.org in the New York Times has drawn the ire of all of the expected right wing mouthpieces, as should be expected. Whenever something questions there take on the world, they are quick to the vitriolic attacks. So be it, we still have freedom of speech, for now anyway. The problem isn't what they spew, it's that so many are so easily misled as to believe them. That's where moveon.org comes in.

Their mission, more than any other, is to engage more people with a progressive mindset to become involved in the process. If we have learned one thing, it is that there are some (that magical 30 percent) who won't listen, who will let the right wing machine drive the country right off the metaphorical cliff. It's the other 70 percent, the people who aren't afraid to think for themselves once in awhile, that moveon.org hopes to influence. Sure, some of them will be put off by the direct and thought-provoking way moveon.org challenges people to look at what is really happening. Still, with each passing day, more Americans accept that challenge, and question the Bush Administration.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking Americans to consider if they are being "betrayed." Not when the general, no matter how highly decorated, is repeating talking points Bush used months ago instead of giving a complete and full picture of the situation in Iraq. Not when the general cannot even say whether or not he thinks actions in Iraq are making America more secure. Does anyone remember Colin Powell, the man who we were told should be unassailable, when he went to the United Nations to gin us up for an invasion? Those who dared not agree then were talked about the same way as moveon is now.

How can anything be thought-provoking if it does not tell both sides of the story?

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive. C. S. Lewis

You would be proud of it. It's a sick organization.

You say, "How many right wing mouth pieces can you name who are not completely with the Bush agenda?" Here's a few for you - Rush, Coulter, Hannity, David Limbaugh, Calkin and others opposed his stance on immigration and his unwillingness to curb government spending; George Will and Peggy Noonan have relentlessly opposed the war in Iraq. These "right wing mouth pieces" or as I would call them conservative ideologists oppose policies that aren't conservative. Perhaps a trait both those on the left and the right tend to share is that they all turn a deaf ear to ideas they don't agree with - and to come up with labels for those they disagree with, which are sometimes clever but mostly not.

You might bring more people to your cause if you weren't so caustic.

Have no idea who Georg Soros is, but I guess people who do their own thinking have to thank him for his work to wake up sleeping citizens. One of the reasons I was attracted to Obama because he spoke out about government corruption and is telling the citizens to take action. Today he sounds weary, almost like "I do not want the job" but I will tell ya'all how to do it yourself.

Jeff, you allege "moveon.org is by no means an insturment of the Democratic Party, nor is it tied to the Democratic platform." Sir, I beg to differ. Wasn't it your illustrous leader, George Soros, who stated "We bought and paid for the Democrat takeover of Congress; it's our party now???????????" Therefore, how can you dare make the assertion you did? If Soros' words are not telling, I don't know what is. Moveon IS setting the agenda for the Democrats, regardless of your denial. Unless of course ya wanna call Soros a liar. Any chance of that? I thought not.

You say you are for free speech but you denigrate what others say by calling it "spewing". Talk about vitriloic attacks. What hypocrisy. You say moveon.org is hoping to influence me and my kind. Well, unlike you I don't need someone to tell me what to think. Moveon.org is controlled by George Soros and his money, and he indeed has a position and an agenda. If you don't think so, you are deluded. And brainwashed.
