Introduction

Most of my serious articles have been about mental health. However, I am also interested in physical health diseases including cancer. After many years of study, I decided that a vegan diet could benefit mental disease. The more I studied the vegan diet, the more diseases I found that could be fought by this diet, including cancer, hypertension, heart disease (hypercholesterolemia), obesity, PKU, diabetes, etc. In other words, the diet is almost a panacea. But how could this be?

The reason may be that man evolved on a similar diet. Cavemen did not eat cheese, pizza, sour cream, cake, ice cream, etc. They ate fruit off the trees. They did not eat refined foods. Raw fruit has good fiber. Raw vegetables are also full of fiber.

Mental Diseases

My research has found that mental diseases as well as many forms of mental retardation are caused by metabolic errors in the brain. One example is PKU, which is a terrible error in amino acid metabolism causing mental disturbance and mental retardation. This is treated by a low protein diet.

Schizophrenia is associated with an error in tryptophan transport which causes amino acids to flood the brain cells. Tryptophan is the worst offending amino acid. The brain seems to think that it needs niacin. Tryptophan can make niacin. However, tryptophan causes toxicity. It is a case of too much of a good thing. The brain burns amino acids instead of glucose. Some of the excess amino acids are converted to fat. The brain cells fill up with fat and burst.

A strict low protein diet should be used. The vegan diet is a good start, although some vegan foods contain protein, including nuts.

Hypertension

A similar diet is good for hypertension because fruits are high in potassium, particularly the banana, and they are also low in sodium. You will not get fat on this diet because it is high in fiber. Fiber has no calories because your body can't digest it.

Diabetes

There are certain fats that are bad for diabetes as well as bad for atherosclerosis. These include cholesterol and saturated fats. These fats are found in animal products such as butter, sour cream, cream cheese, lard, suet, etc.

Did You Know?
There are many treatments for cancer, including surgery. The use of nutrition does not exclude surgery. A boxer would not go into a fight with one hand tied behind his back.
