Unless you are stay at The Hotel, the rooms just aren't that great. The Hotel, a recent addition at Mandalay Bay, is an all suite hotel. The rooms are just gorgeous. But the standard rooms in Mandalay Bay are not so great. They look beautiful with first impression, but they are not well kept and they show a lot of wear and tear. Also, the walls are paper thin. Therefore, if your room is near the elevator or casino you will hear everything. This is a big problem if you are trying to get some sleep after walking all day.
The pool is great. They have a really nice wave pool and lazy river, which is great to cool off in. However, it is way too crammed. If you want a chair near the pool, arrive right when they open. It really isn't the kind of pool you can relax at because there is too much commotion. This is the type of pool where you would bring the whole family to.
The food and entertainment is top notch. My personal favorite place to hang out at is The House of Blues, located inside Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. If shopping will please you, walk on over to Mandalay Place, where you can find some of the finest places to shop at. It is even nice just to window shop!
The service is nothing exceptional. Personally, housekeeping is one of the worst I have ever stayed at on the strip, and check in and check out was nothing to shout about. I would think for the price that you pay, you would get better service. Cheapest daily rates I have ever seen at Mandalay Bay is $140 a night. While Mandalay Bay is a nice place to stay and is quite luxurious, it is nothing to shout about. If you are looking for luxury, stay at the Venetian or Bellagio.
