One of my favorite restaurants in Hollywood and Universal City is Miceli's. It is a unique place to have an Italian dinner or lunch with your family or friends. This charming eatery is located near Universal City on 3655 Cahuenga Blvd. west of Universal City.

The most impressive quality about this romantic looking place is that the guests are serenaded by singing waiters and waitresses, accompanied by a pianist. They sing popular melodies of musical shows, Italian arias, and classical standards. These talented singers serve the dinners with great efficiency.

There are several factors that make this restaurant so unique. One, the building itself is different from other restaurants. As you approach the parking lot, the first thing that stands out, is how the outside is painted to make it look like a little village restaurant in Italy. There are paintings of windows and plants placed outside the windows. There is a painting of a brick wall on the other side of the building.

When you enter, the first thing you notice is a friendly looking bar, where the people sit around watching the popular games of the season. Most of the attendees at this bar are young men who seem to enjoy having drinks and chatting with one another.

As you look around the room, you will notice that there is a wall that is painted to resemble a brick wall just as it is on the outside. Paintings of windows are imbedded in the brick-like wall.

The seating arrangement is in two levels. Each level is just a few steps away from one another. This arrangement has an interesting effect.

When you look up at one of the walls, you will notice a little balcony with a table for two. This is real---it is not painted like the windows and the brick walls. Around this balcony are some vines to make it more romantic. The first time we entered this restaurant, we saw a couple sitting up there, away from the other patrons. This is an ideal spot for honeymooners or for those who feel romantic. This area certainly resembles an apartment where a couple is sitting out on their private balcony.

This sounds wonderful. I'm putting it on list of places to eat when we visit there.
